Global Running Day!
Hello Rising Hearts community,
HAPPY GLOBAL RUNNING DAY! A global celebration and recognition of why we run, the heart work that goes into it, and an opportunity to do what we enjoy or try for the first time!
Get outside, connect with the lands!
Today, make some time for yourself, to get outside, take a deep breathe, and just be part of the outdoors. Connect your feet with the lands. Ask a friend or family member to join. Bring your furbabies if you have to! Go for a walk. Go for a run. If you’ve never run before, and are now inspired to, put one foot in front of the other and move your feet. Jog for 1 minute. Walk for 1 minute. Keep it steady, controlled, and don’t over do it. Join a local run group! Start your own!
We are so grateful to be part of an incredible running / outdoor community of voices, organizers, storytellers and changemakers! It’s so important to us to help create pathways forward where we see ourselves in those spaces, on the roads, on the trails, in the shoes, in the merch, and part of the stories. When we see ourselves truly represented, we resonate with those we see and learn from. We may be inspired by the fast ones, the world record holders, and root for them in their own races, however, we are more inspired by the runners out in our communities running for fun, running for justice, running to heal, running for their health, running for those who can’t, running to challenge themselves, few miles to long miles, on the roads, on the track or on the trails - YOU inspire us.
We put in a lot of work through our Running on Native Lands Initiative, Running With Purpose Athlete Advocates, virtual/in person race / run organizing and through our DEI consultations to help push the running and outdoor industries to improve, because we believe, as humans, we can always do better.

WHAT RUNNING MEANS TO OUR ATHLETES
Lace Coughlin
Running became so much more than exercise for me. It’s where I process life, clear my mind, reconnect with myself, and remember how strong I really am. Some runs heal me, some humble me, some completely reset my energy — but every single one teaches me something. There’s something powerful about putting your shoes on and choosing to keep moving forward, even when life feels heavy. Running gave me confidence, peace, discipline, freedom, and honestly… a version of myself I’m really proud of.
Happy Global Running Day to everyone out there healing one mile at a time.

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to Jordan and the Rising Hearts team for inspiring me to apply for my very first running camp! I am thrilled to share that I have been accepted into the We Run Long Camp, where I will participate in my inaugural 30K trail run at The West Line Winder this September. This marks a significant milestone in my running journey, and I deeply appreciate the unwavering support from Rising Hearts. I proudly identify as a runner now, thanks to their encouragement, which has shown me the transformative power of movement, connection to the land, and the importance of community among fellow Natives. I cannot wait to meet other BIPOC participants and hear their stories, and build new friendships. As I approach the finish line, I will carry immense gratitude for my community, which continually uplifts one another and creates spaces for Native representation. Thank you, Rising Hearts and We Run Long Camp!

Happy Global Running Day! I am so grateful for this running journey even though I don’t necessarily enjoy it lol! Running has become something that has helped my mental health in more ways the one. It has also helped my body to grow. Running has shown me who I am, my discipline, my resilience and as hard as it is, I don’t know what I would of done the last 6 months without it. What a time it helped me through for real. Running gave me something to commit to, to see through and I am so proud of myself! Thank you Running, Rising Hearts and Happy Global Running Day!

Our supporters raise awareness for a wide range of topics including environmental sustainability, mental health, indigenous voices, physical disabilities, and much more.
